How do Invisible Fence® Brand solutions work?  A unit in the garage or basement (1) sends a radio signal through a concealed antennae wire (2) that defines your dog’s safe area. Your dog wears a Computer Collar® (3) that alerts him with a warning tone when he’s approaching the edge of the safe area. Our Safe Dog® training helps him to obey this signal and stay in the yard.
How much does Invisible Fence® Brand solution cost? That is a very difficult question to answer without seeing the property. There are many variables to be taken into account when determining the price, such as length of wire, difficulty of installation, what solution best fits your needs and how many pets you would like to be contained. Each system is customized to your property, your pets and your needs. This means you can get a loan for the purchase price of the Invisible Fence® Brand solution, pay it off in 90 days or less, and pay no interest. What does it mean to train my dog to the system?  Training your dog to the system is teaching your dog the new boundaries in his life. It is a training protocol primarily based on positive reinforcement. For your dog, the training process will be fun and interactive and includes time spent with you as well as a certified Invisible Fence® Trainer. The process takes anywhere from 7 - 10 days and the dog must be on leash during this period when in his yard.
During the training period, our trainer periodically visits your home and works with you and your dog. Phone consultations during this process are also common, as many people have questions during the “home work” phase. This type of open communication is encouraged, and benefits our animal and human clients alike. Each Invisible Fence® Brand system requires pet training customized for your situation. Training is the most important – and most variable – part of our system. Therefore, we have a variety of training package options for you to select from.  When will my new puppy (or kitten) be old enough to train?
We can only speak in generalities since every puppy and kitten is unique. However, here are some guidelines that may be helpful: Puppies: Must be a minimum of 16 weeks of age, housetrained and comfortable on a leash. Prior to Invisible Fence® training, we also recommend that you spend some time training your dog to understand basic obedience commands: “Sit,” “Wait,” “Off,” and “Down,” for example. Some clients are successful doing this on their own, while others may benefit thought professional assistance. See our Pet Resources page for a list of trainers. Kittens: Must be at least six months of age and weigh at least four pounds. I have a very bright dog, will he be able to outsmart the system? No, he will probably be trained much faster than other dogs. My dog in not so bright. Will he be able to understand the system? Absolutely, but the training process may take a little longer compared to that of other dogs.  I live on the water. Can I keep my dog from swimming away?
Yes. If you live on a lake we can keep the dog from entering the water. My dog/cat is not leaving the property, but is digging up my gardens. What can I do? We have systems which can keep your pet out of garden beds and allow him in the unplanted areas of your yard. Can Invisible Fence® Brand solutions work indoors?  Yes, and it works great! We have solutions designed to work inside your home to keep your pet out of specific rooms (children’s room, craft room, laundry room, dining rooms, office), away from specific items (plants, Christmas tree, cat litter box and feeding area), or to keep your pets off certain items (bed, sofa, kitchen counters). Some systems are portable, allowing you to take it with you when you travel.
